Davide Tomatis, born in 1991, works as a graphic and type designer. He did his bachelor in Visual Communication at the Polytechnic University of Torino (Italy) and earned a master degree in Type Design from ECAL/Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (Switzerland). His work focuses on typography within type design, book design, print making and teaching, with a strong inclination towards historical based and experimental projects.

Since 2011 he is one of the founding members of the typographical archive and letterpress printshop Archivio Tipografico and of its in-house design studio called Studio 23.56. He teaches typography and printmaking at the Polytechnic University in Torino and he released the typeface Metodo (which you’re currently reading) through the digital type foundry Optimo.
